Evaluating the RHRN Programme in Ethiopia: Shaping Future SRHR Strategies 2025-11-30 16:13:33 |
| I am excited to share that I recently had the opportunity to serve as the National End-Term Evaluation Consultant for the Right Here Right Now (RHRN) programme in Ethiopia. Funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this programme, which ran from 2021 to 2025, was implemented by a coalition of local organizations in Addis Ababa: Development Expertise Center (DEC), TaYA, Ethiopian Women with Disabilities National Association (EWDNA), and ODWaCE. In this regard, DEC led the alliance, coordinating in-school CSE programmes, empowering youth, and strengthening civil society. Meanwhile, TaYA, EWDNA, and ODWACE respectively specialized in youth participation, advocating for SRHR policies, ensuring gender equality, and working on legal frameworks and advocacy with diverse stakeholders.\r\n\r\nThe programme aimed to empower young people to make informed decisions about their bodies and relationships within societies that champion gender equality and justice. Consequently, as the evaluation consultant, I assessed the programme’s four key long-term outcomes: empowering youth to make informed decisions about life skill, promoting positive norms, and gender equality, advocating for policy change, and strengthening civil society’s capacity to drive these efforts.\r\n\r\nIn conclusion, I am proud to have contributed to this impactful programme. The lessons learned from this evaluation will undoubtedly help shape future SRHR initiatives in Ethiopia, ensuring they are more inclusive, gender-equitable, and sustainable. |
